Job Description
Our client in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Hematologist/Oncologist Physician for a 45-day assignment commencing Oct 17, 2026. This role involves a varied schedule across 2026 and 2027, including clinic hours and 24-hour call, focusing primarily on medical hematology/oncology coverage with 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient duties. The physician will manage patient assessments, new and ongoing treatment plans, and chemotherapy management.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide medical Hematology/Oncology coverage four days per week.
- Conduct patient assessments.
- Develop new treatment plans.
- Manage ongoing treatment plans and changes in therapy.
- Refer patients for ancillary services.
- Provide end-of-life care.
- Oversee chemotherapy management.
- Address pain management needs.
Additional Information
- Board Certifications: Hematology and Medical Oncology.
- EMR: Epic.
- Setting: Primarily outpatient with some inpatient coverage.
- Call Schedule: Out-of-house call, including 24-hour call.
- Patient Volume: 10-15 MercyOne primary patients and 5-8 MercyOne secondary patients per day.
- LOA: 45 Days.
- Staffing Mix: One RN or CMA per physician.
