Job Description

Our client in Mississippi is seeking a Physician specializing in Radiation Oncology for a contract assignment beginning Jul 1, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient care, including detailed record review and treatment planning, along with participation in weekly chart rounds. Shifts are scheduled for 700-1700 hours daily.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review medical records and relevant imaging to prepare for new patient visits, follow-ups, simulations, and on-treatment visits.
  • Direct staff to obtain outside records and coordinate with non-military facilities when necessary.
  • Incorporate national treatment guidelines, medical literature, and clinical experience to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • Manage a variety of cases including breast, genitourinary, head and neck, central nervous system, gynecological, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and hematological malignancies, as well as benign conditions such as heterotopic ossification, keloids, acoustic schwannomas, trigeminal neuralgia, and Graves ophthalmopathy.
  • Attend weekly chart rounds as part of the quality assurance process to review patients, ensure completion of weekly visits and documentation, monitor for toxicities, review imaging, and discuss patient management.
  • Provide resident/student preceptorship, co-signing all clinical notes produced by residents.
  • Potentially be assigned responsibility for medical guidance oversight of a Section of the Radiation Oncology Service.


Additional Information

  • Required Board Certifications: Radiation Oncology
  • Competence in nasopharyngoscopy is essential.
  • Proficiency in Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) or Stereotactic Ablative Radiation Therapy (SABR) is required.
  • Competence in Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Fractionated Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (FSRT) for malignant and benign intracranial disease, using both invasive and non-invasive head rings.
  • Expertise in patient selection, simulation, treatment planning, and delivery of Total Body Irradiation (TBI).
  • Proficiency in a variety of treatment modalities, including electron treatment, three-dimensional (3D) conformal treatment, intensity modulated therapy (IMRT), and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT).
  • Competence in utilizing techniques including deep inspiratory breath hold (DIBH) and 4DCT.
