Job Description

Our client in Washington is actively seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 120-day assignment, commencing Aug 6, 2026. This vital role operates on a night shift schedule from M-F 5pm to 7am, where you will perform essential procedures including open general CV/thoracic surgery, coronary artery bypass using a pump, and valvular repair or replacement.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Required Procedures:
  • General CV/thoracic surgery – open
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery – on pump
  • Valvular – repair
  • Valvular – replacement
  • Preferred Procedures:
  • Aneurysm repair – cardiac
  • Aneurysm repair – aorto-thoracic
  • Lung resection (including VATS)
  • Chest wall or pleural procedures
  • Left ventricular assist devices
  • Ventilation management
  • Evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues
  • Insertion of central line
  • Procedures NOT Required:
  • General CV/thoracic surgery – endoscopic
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery – off pump
  • Congenital defects (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.)
  • Esophagus and diaphragm surgeries
  • Permanent pacemaker placement
  • AICD (Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator)
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Arterial line
  • PA catheter
  • IABP


Additional Information

  • Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery required.
  • Experience with Epic EMR system.
  • Schedule: M-F 5pm to 7am.
