Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 7-day assignment starting Jun 7, 2026, in Iowa. This role involves comprehensive patient care from pre-operative evaluations and assisting as first surgical support in open-heart and thoracic procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting and chest closure, to managing post-operative care in the ICU/telemetry floors and conducting outpatient follow-ups. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with weeknight call duties.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations
  • Act as first assist in open-heart and thoracic surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting, cannulation, and chest closure
  • Manage post-operative care on ICU and telemetry floors
  • Handle outpatient follow-ups
  • Perform chest tube insertion and removal as needed
