We are seeking a dedicated Hospitalist Physician for an exciting 90-day assignment in West Virginia, starting Apr 20, 2026. This role involves comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of adult inpatient cases, including perioperative care and critical response, with shifts covering either 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:00am.
Responsibilities and Duties
Admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients.
Conduct history and physical examinations, ensuring appropriate patient placement.
Perform evaluations and treatment, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies and administering medications.
Engage in end-of-life discussions and advanced care planning.
Consult with sub-specialists as needed.
Implement timely and proactive discharge planning, coordinating care with primary care physicians.
Provide perioperative care.
Deliver care in critical and acute settings, including assessing, stabilizing, and determining patient disposition for emergent conditions.
Lead code teams and rapid response teams.
Perform procedures such as abscess incision and drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, nasogastric tube insertion, placement of transurethral catheters, joint aspirations/injections (excluding ankle/hip), and all ACLS procedures.
Review all inpatient admissions recommended by Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners.
Provide consultations and instruction to referring physicians, determining appropriate courses of treatment.
Initiate social work referrals for identified homeless veterans and patients without primary care providers.
Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
Provide comprehensive discharge education and follow-up instructions.
Ensure mechanisms are in place for communicating test results to patients and providers.
Additional Information
