Job Description

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Family Practice Physician for a 248-day assignment in Massachusetts, starting Sep 28, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive primary medicine care, focusing on preventative services, acute care for common illnesses, and ongoing chronic disease management, with shifts scheduled from 08:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide Primary Medicine Care within a team-based, patient-centered framework, focusing on personalized, integrated, comprehensive, and coordinated health care.
  • Deliver Preventative Care, including annual physicals, screenings, and vaccinations.
  • Offer Acute Care for common illnesses and minor injuries such as colds, flu, rashes, and sprains.
  • Manage Chronic Diseases like hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes through regular check-ins, medication management, and ordering tests.
  • Provide Health and Wellness counseling, including patient education on healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, and weight management.
  • Conduct Diagnosis, Evaluation, Treatment, Care Management, and Consultation for a wide range of conditions, including chronic and acute issues, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, joint pain, upper respiratory issues, skin conditions, mental health concerns, and gynecological, geriatric, and ambulatory conditions.
  • Maintain punctuality for all scheduled clinics.
  • Consult with and instruct referring Physicians regarding appropriate indications for procedures to ensure expeditious and clinically appropriate work-ups.
  • Determine appropriate courses of treatment and communicate with referring clinicians.
  • Initiate appropriate social work referrals for identified homeless veterans and patients without primary care providers.
  • Adhere to all established medication policies and procedures; no sample medications shall be provided to patients.
  • Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all patients.
  • Communicate all test results in accordance with VHA Directive 1088(1).
