Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist for a 96-day assignment in Tennessee, starting Nov 1, 2026. This part-time role involves working 10 hours per day, 4 days per week, providing professional mental health care for inmates/residents. Key responsibilities include conducting psychological screenings and assessments, developing and implementing individual treatment plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary mental health team, and offering crisis intervention.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
• Confer with other clinical staff, including psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems, ensuring integrated treatment activities and patient care follow-through.
• Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
• Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
• Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
• Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others, as applicable, to gather information and understanding into the reasons for the escalation of problem behaviors and changes in the mental health condition of inmates.
