Psychologist - TN

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist for a 60-day assignment in Tennessee, starting Nov 2, 2026. This part-time role involves 8-hour shifts, 5 days a week, where the Psychologist will conduct psychological screenings and assessments, develop individual treatment plans, and provide essential mental health care to inmates and residents within a correctional setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
• Confer with other clinical staff, including psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems, ensure integrated treatment activities, and facilitate patient care follow-through.
• Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
• Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
• Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
• Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others, as applicable, to gather information and understanding into the reasons for the escalation of problems behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.
