Job Description

We are seeking a General Surgeon Physician for an exciting 183-day assignment in West Virginia, starting Jul 23, 2026. The schedule involves working from 7:30am-4:00pm, focusing on direct patient care with comprehensive general surgery duties, including clinic responsibilities, communication of test results, medication management, discharge education, and managing a variety of surgical cases.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide direct patient care, dedicating approximately 99% of time to patient interactions.
  • Deliver comprehensive general surgery physician care.
  • Be present on time for all scheduled clinics and surgeries.
  • Manage communication of test results to patients and providers in accordance with VHA Directive 1088.
  • Adhere to all established medication policies and procedures; do not provide sample medications.
  • Offer discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all general surgery patients.
  • Anticipate managing a wide range of general surgery cases, potentially including abdominal/digestive procedures, debridement, breast biopsies, thyroidectomies, and port placements.
