Job Description

We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for a 25-day locum tenens assignment in Michigan. This opportunity begins on Jan 19, 2026, with 7a-7a coverage across several one-week blocks. The ideal candidate should be experienced with a wide range of endoscopic and advanced GI procedures and comfortable working in a busy hospital environment utilizing the Epic EMR system.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform diagnostic EGD (100 procedures)
  • Conduct total colonoscopies (100 procedures)
  • Complete snare polypectomy (20 procedures)
  • Manage nonvariceal hemostasis (20 procedures, including 10 active bleeders)
  • Provide variceal hemostasis (15 procedures, including 5 active bleeders)
  • Perform esophageal dilation with guide wire (15 procedures)
  • Conduct flexible sigmoidoscopy (25 procedures)
  • Place percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes (10 procedures)
  • Perform diagnostic ERCP (75 procedures)
  • Complete therapeutic ERCP (25 procedures, including 20 sphincterotomies and 5 stent placements)
  • Conduct tumor ablation (20 procedures)
  • Perform pneumatic dilation for achalasia (5 procedures)
  • Complete esophageal stent placements


Additional Information

  • Michigan medical license required
  • Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience with Epic EMR system preferred
  • Assignment is not eligible for IMLC or out-of-state licensure due to timeframe
