Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nurse Practitioner to join our client's team in California for an 18-day assignment starting Jul 13, 2026. This role involves assisting with heart and other thoracic surgeries, managing post-operative patient rounds and notes, and conducting follow-up clinics. Shifts are 7a-5p onsite with night call from 5p-7a, which typically involves very minimal call back. The ideal candidate will possess recent and substantial cardiovascular surgical assist experience, including EVH expertise.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with heart and other thoracic surgeries, averaging 10-11 heart surgeries per month.
• Conduct daily morning rounds and document post-operative patient notes.
• Manage follow-up clinics on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, seeing up to 6 patients.
• Provide care for urgent patient issues outside of scheduled clinic days as needed.
• Perform cardiovascular surgical assists, requiring recent and substantial experience.
• Utilize EVH experience, specifically with Maquet Hemopro 2.

Additional Information

• Work in a Trauma Center setting.
• EMR system utilized is Cerner.
• Recent and substantial cardiovascular surgical assist experience is required.
• EVH experience is mandatory.
