Job Description

We are seeking a Psychologist for a 135-day assignment in Kansas, starting Aug 10, 2026. The role involves working 8-hour days, 5 times per week, providing professional mental health care for inmates/residents. Key responsibilities include conducting psychological screenings and assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, offering crisis intervention, and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary mental health team to ensure integrated patient care.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
• Confer with other clinical staff, including psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, as part of a mental health team, to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems and ensure integrated treatment and patient care follow-through.
• Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
• Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
• Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.
• Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, and security staff, and others as applicable, to gather information and understanding into the reasons for the escalation of problem behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.
