Physician - Psychiatrist

Job Description

Our client in Virginia seeks a dedicated Psychiatrist for a 248-day assignment beginning Oct 1, 2026. This full-time role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric care from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. The Physician will manage a wide scope of psychiatric cases, including veteran-specific issues, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and depression, ensuring direct patient care, developing treatment plans, and maintaining meticulous medical record documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operate and collaborate in the care of physician’s patients
• Provide direct care to ward patients
• Manage patient admissions
• Diagnose patient conditions
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans
• Oversee and perform timely patient treatment
• Manage patient discharge and transfer processes
• Maintain all needed medical record documentation
• Provide outpatient care
• See all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records
• Care for severely mentally ill patients
• Perform evaluation disposition E-consults
• Conduct post-discharge follow-up
• Ensure patients are seen by a provider within 30 days
• Complete History and Physical (H&P) as required and any other necessary documentation
• Provide clinical psychiatry services in clinic and residential care settings
• Examine patients and interpret reports as required

Additional Information

• EMR System: CPRS
• Patient Load: Approximately 12-15 patients each day per psychiatrist for Monday through Friday clinics
• Facility Setting: Combination of inpatient (ward patients), outpatient, clinic, and residential care environments
• Case Types: Wide scope of psychiatric cases including veteran-specific issues, higher propensity of anxiety disorders, PTSD, and depression
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
