Job Description

Our client in Texas is seeking a Psychiatrist to join their team for a 248-day assignment starting Aug 3, 2026. This role involves comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, with shifts from 8am-4:30pm. You will be responsible for diagnosing patients, developing treatment plans, managing a diverse caseload, and addressing veteran-specific mental health issues within a collaborative environment.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with Mental Health staff for inpatient care duties.
  • Operate and manage Physician’s patients, including those on the 1C/1D Psychiatry Service - Ward.
  • Handle patient admissions, diagnoses, and development of treatment plans.
  • Manage and provide timely treatment, including discharge and transfer.
  • Complete all necessary medical record documentation.
  • See all new patient referrals with accompanying medical records for outpatient care.
  • Provide care for severely mental ill patients.
  • Conduct evaluation disposition E-consults and post-discharge follow-ups.
  • Ensure patients are seen within 30 days of referral.
  • Provide clinical psychiatry services in clinic and residential settings.
  • Perform direct patient care, examine patients, and interpret reports as required.
  • Maintain presence and punctuality for all scheduled clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with VA staff.
  • Manage an approximate caseload of 6 to 6.5 patient bookable hours per day.
  • Schedule may include 6 patients for an hour each, or roughly 12 patients for one half-hour each, or any combination totaling 6 to 6.5 bookable patient hours daily.
