Job Description

We are seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment in Oklahoma. This opportunity begins on Jan 19, 2026, for a 48-day contract, offering night shifts of 3 x 12 hours per week in a closed mixed acuity PICU setting. The schedule requires a minimum of three 12-hour shifts per month, with most shifts occurring from 7pm to 7am. The position involves ventilator management (no ECMO) within a 34-bed unit, supported by 24/7 physician coverage.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide acute care management for pediatric patients in a mixed acuity PICU
  • Manage ventilator support for patients (excluding ECMO)
  • Collaborate with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Respond to acute changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Document care activities in the Epic EMR system
  • Participate in handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds as required

Additional Information
  • Must hold an active Oklahoma license
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required
  • Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) certification required if candidate is a nurse practitioner
  • Experience in pediatric acute care and ventilator management strongly preferred
  • Pediatric patient population
