Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician for an exciting 13-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa, starting Nov 25, 2026. This role involves 24-hour in-house call shifts, providing critical support within the OB Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery units. The physician will manage emergent patients, perform deliveries, and offer comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, serving as a clinical lead during obstetric emergencies and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide rapid evaluation and management of obstetric patients presenting to the OB Emergency Department, initiating care within 30 minutes.
- Independently assess OBED patients and emergent cases, including vaginal deliveries and C-sections.
- Assume responsibility for managing labor and performing deliveries for unassigned and transfer patients.
- Offer overall support for the OBED and Labor and Delivery units.
- Manage high-acuity obstetric cases and coordinate admissions, transfers, and operative care with required peer-to-peer communication.
- Deliver comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care for patients without a primary OB/GYN.
- Oversee labor management, including fetal monitoring, necessary procedures, and delivery assistance.
- Provide courtesy deliveries when the primary OB/GYN is unavailable.
- Serve as the clinical lead during obstetric emergencies and rapid response events.
- Remain available for OB consults.
