Job Description
Our client in Oklahoma is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant for a 192-day assignment starting Jun 22, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive care in a dual outpatient and/or inpatient setting, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and care coordination for patients with acute and chronic health needs. The schedule for this position consists of night shifts, from 5 pm to 6:30 am, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform accurate, complete, concise, and relevant history and physical assessments of patients, appropriate for age, gender, and clinical problem.
Order appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interpret results.
Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify patient care plans as needed.
Maintain accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
Provide patient and family-centered care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for health promotion, illness prevention, and disease treatment.
Facilitate consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
Incorporate patients and their families into care planning and treatment across various settings.
Consider cost effectiveness and risk/benefit analysis when making patient care decisions.
Utilize evidence-based medicine to systematically analyze and enhance patient care practices.
Develop, evaluate, and implement standards of care, including policies and protocols, within the area of specialization.
Participate in research opportunities to advance patient care and treatment.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, other health professionals, and health related agencies.
Counsel and educate patients and families, serving as their advocate in navigating the healthcare system.
Engage in the education of students and other healthcare professionals.
Participate in organizational and departmental meetings, educational opportunities, committees, and workgroups as necessary.
Contribute to quality initiative and performance activities.
Promote interdisciplinary practice and implement strategies to overcome barriers to collaboration.
Additional Information
Board Certification: Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
Shift: 5 pm to 6:30 am.
Demonstrate knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of medical conditions.
Exhibit a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients who have acute and chronic illnesses.
Possess proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to the practice area.
Demonstrate an advanced level of medical/nursing clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
Hold the highest level of accountability for professional practice.
Possess knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
Capable of managing general medical and surgical conditions.
Ability to follow ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent, and unanticipated adverse outcomes.
Three or more years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in the designated specialty is preferred.
