Job Description

 Wellhart is seeking a Neurological Surgeon for a locum tenens position in Ohio. This assignment begins on 12/19/2025, with an initial 28-day coverage period, followed by one week per month starting in 2026. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 7a-7a. The physician will be responsible for providing comprehensive neurosurgical care, including adult and trauma cases, with a preference for pediatric experience. Key responsibilities include general neurosurgery, tumor management, spinal surgeries with and without instrumentation, ICP monitor placement, and potential VP shunt procedures. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a wide range of neurosurgical procedures and emergency situations.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform general neurosurgery for adult and trauma cases

• Conduct spinal surgeries with and without instrumentation (cervical, thoracic, lumbar)

• Manage brain tumors and other neurological conditions

• Place ICP monitors and potentially perform VP shunt procedures

• Handle emergency neurosurgical cases, including pediatric cranial trauma

• Perform craniotomies and craniectomies as needed

• Utilize Epic electronic health record system

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care

• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to hospital protocols


Additional Information:

• Must be licensed in Ohio

• Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred

• Strong competencies in ICP or EVD monitoring and placement required

• Proficiency in spinal instrumentation for trauma (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) essential

• Pediatric emergency cranial trauma experience highly valued

• Possibility of assignment extension
