Job Description

 Wellhart is seeking a Board Certified Medical Physicist for a locum tenens position in New Jersey. This 124-day assignment requires a specialist to work 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, starting on 11/03/2025. The ideal candidate should have a Master's or PhD level education with at least two years of continuous working experience within the last three years. Key responsibilities include performing QA procedures, therapeutic medical physics in an ACR/APEx certified healthcare system, and working with various radiation therapy equipment and software. The role involves minimal direct patient care but requires participation in peer review conferences and adherence to VA documentation standards.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform QA procedures and therapeutic medical physics in an ACR/APEx certified healthcare system
  • Work with Varian Linear Accelerators, Image Guided Radiation Therapy, and various treatment planning systems
  • Conduct IMRT QA and work with CT Simulators
  • Participate in peer review conferences to discuss treatment decisions and goals
  • Provide medical physics support for radiation treatment planning and delivery
  • Ensure radiation protection for patients and staff
  • Perform calculations for MUs or treatment times and conduct independent reviews
  • Complete required documentation in CPRS according to VA standards
  • Be present during patient setup for SBRT/SRS and IGRT procedures
  • Specify and monitor methods to calculate MUs or treatment times


Additional Information:

  • Must be comfortable with various radiation therapy procedures and equipment
  • Requires at least one year of experience in multiple specialized areas of radiation therapy
