We are seeking an experienced Medical Physicist for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in Minnesota, starting Jan 12, 2026. This contract covers day shifts, Monday through Friday, from 7:30am to 4:00pm, with no weekend rotation and the possibility of extension. The Medical Physicist will provide high-standard radiation therapy planning, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance services in a collaborative clinical environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
Provide medical physics services in the planning, optimization, evaluation, and delivery of radiation therapy
Ensure accurate and consistent performance of equipment, treatment plans, and dose calculations
Oversee safe and precise administration of therapeutic radiation and uphold all radiation safety and regulatory requirements
Design, implement, and maintain quality control programs for radiation-producing equipment and materials in accordance with state and federal laws
Implement and assure quality of procedures for planning and delivery of radiotherapy, including technical specifications, tolerances, and workflow supervision
Perform daily clinical tasks, including chart checks, plan checks, patient-specific quality assurance, and special procedures as needed
Conduct weekly, monthly, and annual quality assurance testing on all equipment
Participate in departmental meetings such as CQI, huddles, and case conferences
Plan and deliver all radioactive brachytherapy source procedures required in radiation oncology and other departments
Produce computer treatment plans according to physician prescriptions and available treatment modes and techniques
Collaborate with the physics team, radiation oncology, dosimetry, and other department staff on complex cases
Work with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with regulations related to linear accelerators, x-ray devices, and brachytherapy sources
Participate with IS and vendors to troubleshoot and upgrade clinical systems
Provide leadership in technical, educational, and radiation-related matters within the department
Determine technical specifications for new equipment or software, supervise installation, and validate performance for clinical implementation
Develop and implement protocols or treatment procedures with the medical staff
Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Information
Required: Master’s degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP-accredited program or Doctoral/Ph.D. in a related field
Preferred: 2–5 years of experience in a clinical radiation oncology setting
Must have American Board of Radiology Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics or American Board of Medical Physics in Medical Physics upon hire
HDR Brachytherapy Authorized Medical Physicist credentialing required within 12 months of hire
Must be licensed to practice in Minnesota
