Job Description

We are seeking a Hospitalist for a locum tenens nocturnist assignment in South Carolina. This opportunity begins on Nov 15, 2025, with a 30-day contract and primarily night shifts. The ideal candidate will be board certified in Hospital Medicine and able to manage a range of acute and chronic conditions in a hospital setting.

  • Schedule: Nights, more than likely; exact hours to be determined; minimum availability of 7 or more shifts per month


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage patients with sepsis and bacteremia
  • Treat pneumonia (community-acquired, healthcare-associated, aspiration)
  • Address congestive heart failure exacerbation
  • Care for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbation
  • Manage acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease
  • Treat uncontrolled diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state
  • Evaluate and rule out chest pain/acute coronary syndromes
  • Address upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Manage cellulitis and soft tissue infections
  • Evaluate cases of syncope and near syncope
  • Treat hypertensive urgency and emergency


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Hospital Medicine required
  • Must be residency trained and specialty certified
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) required
  • Proof of CME, case logs, diplomas, and immunization records required
  • Must complete 8 hours of Stroke CME and 8 hours of Trauma CME
  • In-person EMR training required prior to first shift; does not require privileging before training
  • Texas license required
  • Must be able to provide copies of SS card, driver's license, and a color photo as part of the credentialing process
