Job Description

 We are seeking a board-certified Hospitalist Physician for a 12-day locum tenens assignment at a multi-campus healthcare system in Mississippi. This opportunity offers a mix of day and night shifts at a Trauma Center and a non-designated trauma facility. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a patient panel of 10-12 patients, handling admissions and discharges, and working in a fast-paced environment with robust specialist backup. This role requires proficiency with Epic EMR and an active Mississippi medical license. The assignment begins soon with potential for extension.


Job Details:

Location: Mississippi

Facility Type: Multi-campus healthcare system (Trauma Center and non-designated trauma facility)

Start Date: Immediate

LOA: 12 days (with potential for extension)

Provider Type Needed: Board-Certified Hospitalist Physician

Schedule: 10-hour and 12-hour shifts, days and nights


Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Manage routine medicine service on the main and secondary campuses

• Handle a daily patient panel of 10-12 patients

• Process approximately 3 admissions and discharges per day

• Maintain and improve patient length of stay metrics

• Collaborate with multi-specialty teams including Critical Care, Pulmonology, Cardiology, and various surgical services

• Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and care coordination

• Provide high-quality patient care in a main campus and secondary campus setting

• Work effectively in both a Intensive Care Unit and a Critical Care Unit

• Adapt to an open model of care delivery

• Participate in the care of patients across various specialty areas, including the on-site Cancer Center and Stroke Center


Additional Information:

• Must be comfortable working in a Trauma Center environment

• Ability to manage critically ill patients and coordinate transfers when necessary

• Opportunity to work swing shifts (5p-9p) may be available

• Familiarity with multi-campus healthcare systems is beneficial
