Job Description

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a 120-day locum tenens opportunity in Texas, beginning Feb 2, 2026. This assignment offers 12-hour day and night shifts in a busy emergency department, with an annual volume of approximately 21,705 patients and a daily census around 60. Physicians will work alongside nurse practitioners and physician assistants, with no scribe coverage and limited on-site laboratory services.

  • Schedule: Physician shifts: 6am–6pm and 6pm–6am daily; NP/PA shifts: Monday 8am–5pm and 12pm–9pm, Tuesday to Friday 8am–8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am–8pm


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide emergency medical care for a diverse patient population in a emergency department
  • Evaluate and manage a daily patient load of approximately 60, with 10–15 percent EMS arrivals
  • Initiate transfers for patients requiring admission or a higher level of care
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Utilize 24/7 ultrasound and CT coverage for diagnostic support
  • Participate in brief orientation and shadowing prior to start of assignment
  • Ensure compliance with all required certifications and board requirements


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine preferred; will consider Family Medicine physicians with strong emergency department experience
  • Fellowship required; EM residency trained preferred, but open to FM residency trained with relevant ED experience
  • ATLS, ACLS, and PALS required for FM-trained or board-eligible EM physicians; EM board-certified physicians must show proof of ATLS at least once
  • Active Texas medical license required
  • No ICU beds or backup specialties; limited lab and no blood products on-site
