Job Description

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician for a 14-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa, starting Oct 6, 2025. This role requires managing the emergency department with shifts from 7 AM to 7 AM the following day. The successful candidate will handle both ER and inpatient care duties, supported by a Tele-Hospitalist team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage the emergency department, assessing, diagnosing, and initiating treatment for patients.
  • Oversee admissions from the ER, managing the order panel and inpatient care.
  • Coordinate with Avera E-Care Tele-Hospitalist and Tele-Specialists for inpatient support.
  • Stabilize patients for transport to labor and delivery as necessary.


Additional Information

  • Must be licensed to practice in Iowa.
  • Experience in rural healthcare, hospitalist or acute care, and emergency medicine preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR systems is necessary.
