Responsibilities and Duties
Provide patient care in a high-volume emergency department with an annual ER volume of 40,150
Manage cases across all acuity levels, utilizing a fast-track system for lower acuity patients
Participate in admission process: 60 percent of hospital admissions are received from the ED, with 20 percent of ED patients admitted daily
Coordinate with IM and surgical residents for admission orders; admitters input orders upon bed request
Follow established protocols for pediatric and trauma transfers
Ensure patients requiring labor and delivery are sent directly to the appropriate department
Work collaboratively with attending physicians, residents, and hospital staff
Adhere to hospital procedures and maintain high standards of clinical care
Additional Information
Board certification as a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine required
Michigan license required at time of credentialing; IMLC not accepted
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certifications required
DEA certification required
Minimum two years of recent emergency department experience required
Clean background for expedited credentialing required
Copy of NPDB self-query required at time of presentation (pulled within 30 days)
Must be local; remote or non-local candidates will not be considered
