Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Dentist for a 249-day locum tenens assignment with our client in Vermont, starting Mar 16, 2026. This role offers a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday schedule (7am-5:30pm) and focuses on providing comprehensive dental care for Veterans within an innovative mobile dental clinic setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive dental care within the legal scope of practice and state regulations
  • Conduct detailed dental examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning based on each patient’s history
  • Develop and discuss individualized treatment plans with patients using Veteran-centric care models
  • Perform progressive phased dental care, including restorative, preventative, oral surgery, endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontic, and other procedures within licensure and training
  • Stabilize and treat acute dental issues, such as infections or trauma
  • Manage post-operative care and coordinate follow-up treatment plans
  • Supervise and assign duties to dental hygienists and dental assistants according to state dental board regulations
  • Ensure medically necessary dental care is provided in accordance with statutory eligibility requirements
  • Verify dental eligibility for Veterans and make Class III and Class VI eligibility determinations as defined by statute and VA regulations
  • Address patient complaints with thorough documentation and timely follow-up
  • Ensure all treatment plans and documentation comply with VA policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Engage in regular peer reviews and collaborative meetings with VA dental staff
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and process improvement activities for the mobile dental clinic pilot program
  • Assist in preparing reports and gathering stakeholder feedback to enhance program efficacy


Additional Information

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in dentistry preferred
  • Must hold an active license to practice dentistry
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
