Responsibilities and Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physician orders and administering medications
Perform examinations and treatment of patients, including a variety of procedures and treatments
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical problems and healthcare needs
Record physical findings, formulate prognosis, and discuss cases with physicians and other health professionals to prepare patient care plans
Recommend drugs and other treatments within the scope of licensure
Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and ensure early release when appropriate
Verify cleanliness of equipment and work area, both directly and through supervision
Assist in monitoring the provision of all required contractual services
Maintain strong working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
Utilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and exercise independent judgment as needed
Evaluate the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication
Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records and ensure documentation of all services provided
Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and recommend methods to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health services
Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and comply with all applicable pharmacy laws
Observe and record inmate or resident behavior
Accept on-call status as required
Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
Read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical and technical procedures and legal documents
Review, process, and respond to lawsuits via corporate counsel and attend court hearings as necessary
Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public, exercising tact and good judgment
Attend staff meetings and promote effective communication in the medical unit
Participate in multidisciplinary committee meetings to promote and monitor healthcare quality
Engage in functions in confined areas, including working rotating shifts and performing physical security checks
Evaluate and recommend safety requirements for a secure work environment
Additional Information
Must have at least 1 year of advanced practice provider experience
US Citizenship required for ICE clearance; expedited clearance available for new activation
Candidates will undergo thorough background and credit investigation for clearance
