Job Description

We are seeking a Board Certified Dentist for a 248-day locum tenens assignment in Montana, starting Dec 1, 2025. This position offers a Monday through Friday daytime schedule and involves providing dental care within Native American and Alaska Native communities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, cultural sensitivity, and proficiency with RPMS electronic medical records.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans and recommendations for patients
  • Refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchased Referred Care vendors as appropriate
  • Proficiently document services using RPMS electronic medical record system; complete all required administrative paperwork within 24 hours of patient visit
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission standards and administrative policies
  • Provide consultation to Hospital Emergency Department healthcare providers as needed
  • Deliver dental services, including making preliminary diagnoses, prescribing or providing treatment, and arranging for specialized dental care or referrals per Indian Health Services guidelines
  • Assume responsibility for diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients and emergency cases as a staff dentist


Additional Information

  • Must be Medical Board Certified in specialty
  • Required current DEA license
  • Must apply and be accepted as an associate member of the on-site medical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to relate constructively to Native American/Alaska Native communities
  • Must maintain professional standards in hygiene and grooming
  • Familiarity with and adherence to current policies, procedures, by-laws, and regulations of on-site clinical and medical staff required
