Job Description

We are seeking a board-certified Dentist for a locum tenens assignment in Montana, starting Dec 1, 2025, for a 248-day term. This opportunity offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 8a-5p, providing comprehensive dental care and supporting Native American/Alaska Native communities.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans and recommendations for patients
  • Provide dental services, including preliminary diagnoses, direct treatment, prescriptions, or arrangements for specialized care or referrals as required under Indian Health Service guidelines
  • Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchased Referred Care vendors, following IHS guidelines
  • Offer consultations to Hospital Emergency Department healthcare providers on an as-needed basis
  • Ensure proficiency in electronically documenting patient encounters using the RPMS EMR system; complete all required administrative paperwork within 24 hours of each patient visit, including consults, co-signatures, chart completion, Risk Management Reviews, unusual occurrences, and peer review as required
  • Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission standards and administrative policies as directed
  • Assume responsibility for diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients and emergency cases as a staff dentist
  • Develop familiarity and adhere to all clinical and medical staff policies, procedures, by-laws, and regulations

Additional Information
  • Must be Medical Board Certified in Dentistry
  • Current DEA license required
  • Must be eligible and accepted as a clinic/hospital associate member of on-site Medical Staff
  • Strong initiative, interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate constructively to Native American/Alaska Native patients required
  • Professional hygiene and grooming standards consistent with supervisory expectations
  • Commitment to compliance with Joint Commission and IHS Manual standards
