Job Description

We are seeking a Dentist for a locum tenens assignment in Georgia starting Nov 3, 2025, working 8-hour day shifts. This role requires at least 1 year of advanced practice provider experience and US citizenship for ICE clearance. The Dentist will provide comprehensive dental care and ensure operational efficiency in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physician orders, dispensing and administering medications, and performing examinations and treatments
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical problems and healthcare needs
  • Record physical findings, formulate prognosis, and discuss cases with physicians and other health professionals to prepare patient care plans
  • Recommend drugs and other forms of treatment within the scope of licensure
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and ensure early release when appropriate
  • Verify cleanliness of equipment and work areas through personal efforts and supervision
  • Assist in monitoring the provision of all required contractual services
  • Maintain effective relationships with facility and nursing staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
  • Utilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and procedures, applying sound independent judgment
  • Evaluate provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication
  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; review files to ensure documentation of provided services
  • Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses closely
  • Recommend methods for improving operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health-related services
  • Audit pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as required
  • Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled substances
  • Observe and record inmate or resident behavior
  • Accept on-call status as required
  • Provide health counseling and education on an individual or group basis
  • Read, analyze, and interpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, and legal documents
  • Review, process, and respond (with corporate counsel) to lawsuits; attend court hearings; conduct chart research; review status of inmates or residents with serious health problems
  • Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, residents, visitors, and the general public
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and promote effective communication within the medical unit
  • Participate in multidisciplinary committee meetings to monitor healthcare service quality
  • Work in confined areas, including rotating shifts and verifying security of doors and windows
  • Evaluate and recommend safety requirements for staff and patients
