Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in California. This opportunity starts on Feb 5, 2026, and features 10-hour day shifts from 7am to 5pm with no call. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of neurosurgery, neurocritical care, or neurology experience, and will be comfortable managing both low/moderate and high-risk procedures within a neuro-trauma service setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform low to moderate risk procedures such as laceration repair, IV access and insertion (peripheral line), and fracture or dislocation reductions with minimal to moderate displacement
  • Conduct high-risk interventions including G-tube placement, endotracheal intubation, cardioversion/defibrillation, laryngeal mask airway (LMA), paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and placement of central and arterial lines
  • Provide neurocritical care management in a neuro-trauma service (no surgical assistance required)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with all regulatory standards


Additional Information

  • Active California state license required
  • Board certification: Current ANCC/AANP (NP) in Critical Care Medicine
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, DEA (ATLS preferred but not required if substantial neuro experience)
  • Clean malpractice history required
  • Must be available at time of name clear
  • Minimum of one year of experience in neurosurgery, neurocritical care, or neurology required
