Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for a 90-day locum tenens neuro trauma/critical care assignment in California. This opportunity begins Jan 6, 2026, and features 10-hour day shifts from 7am to 5pm with no call. The assignment spans select dates from January through June, offering a dynamic schedule in a specialized hospital environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide neuro trauma and critical care management for hospitalized patients
  • Perform low to moderate risk procedures, including laceration repair, IV access/insertion (peripheral line), and fracture/dislocation reductions (minimal to moderate displacement)
  • Conduct high risk procedures such as G-tube placement, endotracheal intubation, cardioversion/defibrillation, LMA, paracentesis, chest tube insertion, and central/arterial line placement
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Document all care provided in compliance with hospital protocols
  • Maintain a high standard of patient safety and quality care


Additional Information

  • Active California NP license and DEA required
  • Board certification in Critical Care Medicine (ANCC/AANP) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required; Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred but not mandatory
  • Clean malpractice history required
  • The role does not include surgical assistance
  • Availability for all scheduled dates at time of name clear is required
  • Substantial experience in neurosurgery and/or neurocritical care preferred
