Job Description

We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 42-day locum tenens assignment in Pennsylvania, starting Jun 1, 2026. This role features a Monday through Friday schedule from 7am to 6pm, with night and weekend call rotation. The successful candidate will provide first assist support in CT Surgery, including endoscopic vein harvesting, and must be comfortable handling CABG, AVR, TAVR, and aortic cases. This locum opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals ready to step into a high-acuity surgical team environment.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-6pm; night call 6pm-7am; weekend call 7am-7am with rounding approximately 10am-4pm


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as first assist in cardiothoracic surgery procedures
  • Scrub for CABG, thoracic cases, AVR, TAVR, and aortic surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic vein harvesting
  • Participate in rotating night and weekend call coverage
  • Provide perioperative and intraoperative patient care
  • Support the surgical team as required during cases


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery required
  • Active Physician Assistant license in Pennsylvania required
  • Must hold current ACLS, BLS, and CPR certifications
  • DEA registration required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a first assist in CT Surgery
  • Position available due to vacancy and FMLA coverage
