Job Description

We are seeking a board-certified Anesthesiologist for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa, starting Jan 5, 2026. This position features day shifts Monday through Friday and weekend call coverage. The assignment focuses on general anesthesia cases, including obstetrics and healthy pediatrics, with no clinic responsibilities.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday (0630-1630); weekends are call only (1st, 2nd, and 3rd call; 1st call is called in 75 percent of the time); night call 7 days per week, every 3-4 days


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide general anesthesia services, including for obstetric cases (including TOLAC) and healthy pediatric patients
  • Deliver conscious sedation as required
  • Participate in call coverage for nights and weekends as scheduled
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical protocols and safety standards
  • Maintain a clean malpractice record with no settled or pending cases


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Anesthesiology is required
  • Active Iowa license or IMLC with LOQ required at time of name clear
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (can be obtained during credentialing)
  • Must be available for at least 2 weeks per month during the assignment
  • COVID vaccination required
  • No responsibilities for clinic work
  • No cases involving hearts or neurosurgery
