We are seeking a Psychiatrist for a 30-day locum tenens assignment in Arizona, beginning Nov 24, 2025. This opportunity offers 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, involving direct patient care and a wide range of mental health services within a correctional facility setting.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Report to the assigned facility at designated times to provide direct patient care and associated clinical duties
  • Participate in civil commitment proceedings and assess DSM diagnoses as appropriate
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications
  • Deliver professional services including counseling, disease process management, ordering and reviewing laboratory work
  • Supervise and mentor facility-based mental health staff
  • Assess mental health service needs, collect data, and prepare related reports
  • Recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness for mental health services
  • Accept on-call responsibilities as needed
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling to inmates/residents and their families
  • Assist in developing and implementing therapeutic programs for assigned inmates/residents
  • Prepare progress and discharge planning reports; make case presentations as required
  • Serve as a liaison for group counseling, volunteer activities, and events promoting mental health services
  • Supervise inmates/residents within the facility and during community activities, promoting positive relations and use of community services
  • Maintain confidentiality of inmate/resident records and audit documentation for accuracy
  • Coordinate professional services provided by contract personnel, as applicable
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative, statistical, and operational records and reports
  • Attend required staff and group meetings to ensure effective program delivery and communication
  • Apply established policies and independently exercise sound judgment in clinical and administrative duties
  • Respond to lawsuits and attend court hearings as necessary

Additional Information
  • Active Arizona license required
  • US Citizenship required for facility clearance
  • Facility clearance process takes approximately 3 weeks
