We are seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in Oklahoma starting Nov 3, 2025. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physicians orders, dispensing and administering medications, and performing examinations and treatments
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient clinical problems and healthcare needs
  • Record physical findings, formulate prognosis, and collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to prepare patient care plans
  • Recommend appropriate drugs and treatments within licensure scope
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and ensure timely release when appropriate
  • Verify cleanliness of equipment and work areas, supervising as needed
  • Assist with oversight of required contractual health services
  • Maintain strong working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
  • Apply established corporate, facility, and correctional policies, using sound independent judgment
  • Regularly evaluate medical services to prevent inappropriate or duplicate care
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records, ensuring all services are documented
  • Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and recommend improvements in operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and pharmacy law compliance
  • Observe and record inmate or resident behavior
  • Accept on-call status as required
  • Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
  • Interpret medical and legal documents, including processing legal writs and commitment orders
  • Review and respond to lawsuits, attend court hearings, and conduct chart research as necessary
  • Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public, demonstrating tact and sound judgment
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in multidisciplinary committees to promote quality healthcare services
  • Work in confined areas, rotating shifts, and ensure facility security by checking doors and windows
  • Evaluate and recommend physical safety requirements for a safe work environment


Additional Information

  • Minimum of 1 year of advanced practice provider experience required
  • US Citizenship required for ICE clearance, with expedited clearance available for new activation
  • Candidates will undergo thorough background and credit investigations for security clearance
  • License to practice in Oklahoma required
