Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including psychiatric history, mental status exams, and assessment of psychosocial functioning
  • Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders utilizing evidence-based treatment plans for patients with acute, chronic, and complex conditions
  • Prescribe, titrate, or discontinue psychotropic medications within licensure scope
  • Deliver brief, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions (CBT, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing)
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care, and nursing teams in care planning and treatment team rounds
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including assessments, progress notes, medication orders, and discharge summaries
  • Monitor treatment response, side effects, and medication adherence; order and interpret relevant laboratory or diagnostic tests
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including management of suicidal or homicidal ideation and coordination of higher levels of care as needed
  • Participate in specialized areas such as electroconvulsive therapy (observation/support role), substance use disorder treatment (including buprenorphine waiver), management of severe neurocognitive disorders, forensic psychiatric evaluations, child/adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and group therapy facilitation

Additional Information
  • Active New York Nurse Practitioner license required
  • Board certification in Psychiatry required
