Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including psychiatric history, mental status exams, and assessment of psychosocial functioning
Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders utilizing evidence-based treatment plans for patients with acute, chronic, and complex conditions
Prescribe, titrate, or discontinue psychotropic medications within licensure scope
Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care, and nursing teams in care planning and treatment team rounds
Complete accurate and timely documentation, including assessments, progress notes, medication orders, and discharge summaries
Monitor treatment response, side effects, and medication adherence; order and interpret relevant laboratory or diagnostic tests
Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including management of suicidal or homicidal ideation and coordination of higher levels of care as needed
Participate in specialized areas such as electroconvulsive therapy (observation/support role), substance use disorder treatment (including buprenorphine waiver), management of severe neurocognitive disorders, forensic psychiatric evaluations, child/adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and group therapy facilitation
Additional Information
Active New York Nurse Practitioner license required
Board certification in Psychiatry required
