Responsibilities and Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physician orders, administering medications, performing examinations, and treatments
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical problems and healthcare needs
Record physical findings, formulate prognosis, and collaborate with physicians and health professionals to prepare patient care plans
Recommend drugs and other treatments within scope of licensure
Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when appropriate
Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area
Assist with oversight of all required contractual healthcare services
Maintain collaborative relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and external agencies
Apply corporate, facility, and correctional policies, exercising sound independent judgment
Evaluate and prevent inappropriate or duplicative medical services
Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records, ensuring documentation of all provided services
Closely monitor potential catastrophic illnesses
Recommend improvements for operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and comply with all pharmacy laws, particularly regarding controlled substances
Observe and document inmate/resident behavior
Accept on-call status as required
Provide individual and group health counseling and education
Read, analyze, and interpret medical, technical, and legal documents, including processing medical instructions and legal writs
Participate in legal proceedings by reviewing, processing, and responding to lawsuits, attending hearings, and conducting chart reviews
Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public using tact and sound judgment
Attend staff meetings and promote information flow within the medical unit
Participate in multidisciplinary committee meetings to monitor healthcare service quality
Operate in confined areas, work rotating shifts, and conduct physical security checks of the facility
Recommend and evaluate physical safety requirements for patients and staff
Additional Information
At least 1 year of advanced practice provider experience required
US citizenship required for ICE clearance; background and credit investigation necessary
Active Oklahoma license required
