Responsibilities and Duties
Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physician orders, dispensing and administering medications, and performing examinations and treatments
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient clinical problems and healthcare needs
Record physical findings, formulate prognoses, and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop care plans
Recommend drugs and other forms of treatment within the scope of licensure
Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when appropriate
Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area through direct effort and supervision
Assist in monitoring the provision of all required contractual services
Maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
Apply established policies and procedures while using sound independent judgment in decision-making
Evaluate medical services regularly to prevent inappropriate or duplicate care
Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records, ensuring thorough documentation of services provided
Monitor and address potential catastrophic illnesses promptly
Recommend improvements for operational efficiency and cost effectiveness in health-related services
Audit pharmacy usage for formulary adherence and comply with all pharmacy laws, especially regarding controlled substances
Observe and document inmate or resident behavior
Accept on-call status as required
Provide health counseling and education individually or to groups
Analyze, interpret, and process medical and legal documents, including medical instructions and legal writs
Participate in legal processes, including research and court hearings, as necessary
Communicate effectively with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public, using tact and sound judgment
Attend staff meetings and facilitate effective communication within the medical unit
Participate in multi-disciplinary committee meetings to monitor and promote quality healthcare services
Engage in security functions such as working rotating shifts and verifying secure areas within the facility
Evaluate and recommend safety requirements for a secure working environment
Additional Information
Minimum of 1 year APP experience required
US citizenship required due to ICE clearance process, including comprehensive background and credit investigation
Must be licensed to practice in Oklahoma
