Our client is seeking a skilled Anesthetist for an engaging locum tenens assignment in Oklahoma, commencing May 25, 2026. This role involves a consistent 40-hour weekly schedule, where you will be primarily responsible for the administration of anesthesia, patient monitoring during surgical and medical procedures, and comprehensive pre and post-anesthetic evaluations. Your expertise will be crucial in managing airway consultations and actively participating in emergency code situations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
Deliver safe, quality, age-appropriate anesthesia following established clinical privilege guidelines approved by the Anesthesia Department Chairman.
Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgeries and other medical procedures.
Provide and document pre and post-anesthetic evaluations.
Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
Provide induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care.
Consult on airway management and participate in codes under the direction of a supervising anesthesiologist.
Offer supportive assistance to residents and medical students on anesthesia rotations.
Report to and be accountable to the nurse manager/director/clinical leader, coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team, including students.
Be accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence and best practices into nursing care.
Engage in ongoing professional development.
Lead and coordinate teams, appropriately delegate, coordinate care, and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
Additional Information
Required Board Certifications: Anesthesiology
EMR: Epic
Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Demonstrated critical thinking and highly developed clinical assessment and analytical skills.
Proficiency with computer systems for data entry and information retrieval.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including potential 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on-call availability.
